Writing update

Your ideas matter. That's what I've been trying to tell myself lately, as I've been struggling with my writing. The older ideas I've been working on for awhile. The new ideas that come up. They all matter.

But they don't all have priority, and that's what I want to share today.

I sent two versions of my story to a couple writer friends over the summer. It was hard for me to do. Sharing my writing with others is new, and I was scared they weren't going to like either version.

Not what happened. Both friends liked the two versions of the story. Funny enough, they had similar thoughts about what they liked, where they saw plot holes, etc.

The struggle came when I sat down to work through their comments. The comments were a good blend of things they want to see more of, and questions to address.

But the questions to address were BIG.

And I got overwhelmed.

So here I am, a few weeks after receiving their feedback. The story formerly known as Serena and the Soldier is now Riding on Love.

And I'm taking a break from it to try something new.

The new project is just that: super new. I have a blurb (similar to what will eventually be the back cover copy), and the tropes the story will include. That's it.

And I'm super excited to dive in!
